Kobe Bryant made headlines recently when he characterized AAU basketball as failing young athletes. Pointing to the tendency to focus on building winning teams over the development of fundamental skills, Kobe describes the negative impact this has on professional basketball in the US. The solution? Return to teaching fundamentals. Build players from the ground up.
Whether or not Kobe is right about AAU, he is right about the importance of teaching fundamentals. This focus is, well, fundamental to our training at NPA.
